Q1. Give three solutions to remove poverty in India?
Ans. Measures to remove poverty in India are placed in above three categories, as under:
- Poverty can be removed through GDP growth.
- Poverty can be removed through population control.
- Poverty can be removed through enhancing the quality of life of the people.
Q2 Why calorie-based norm is not adequate to identify the poor?
Ans. Calorie based norm is not adequate to identify a poor because it does not differentiate between very poor and other poor. Some factors like education, health care, drinking water and sanitation associated with poverty are not considered in calorie based norm as only food and some selected items are considered.
Q3 Is there any relationship between unemployment and poverty. Explain?
Ans. There is direct relationship between unemployment and poverty. Unemployment refers to a situation when one, who is able and willing to work, is not working which further implies lack of income, lack of food, education, health facilities which will result into poverty of the masses.
Q4 How can creation of income earning assets address the problem of poverty?
Ans. With the creation of income earning assets, people will have means to earn their livelihood. It creates capital base which creates job opportunities and this will be help in removing poverty.
